Hydration Connection and Immunity Busters

How much water do you drink on an average day? If it’s not a lot, it could be affecting your immunity.

Dehydration can have a ton of effects on the body and you probably already know it can make you tired and lead to headaches.

You may not be so familiar with the impact on immunity though. Good hydration can help immunity in a few ways:

Let’s talk about how water can help you stay healthy during these uncertain times!

1. Water carries oxygen

Water helps to carry oxygen around the body so that cells and tissues can function efficiently. With everything working well, your immune system can fight viruses and other pathogens.

2. Water eliminates waste

Water also supports the production of lymph fluid. This is important for carrying the body’s waste products and bacteria out via the lymph nodes. Proper hydration makes it easier for your lymph nodes to do this job and help your body to defend against illness.

It can also help your body to flush out toxins, which is another factor in keeping your immune system healthy.

3. Water makes you a better fighter

Good hydration can also help improve sleep, which in turn has a positive effect on immunity. Poor sleep affects the ability of T-cells to protect your body.

Drinking plenty of water every day is vital for helping to support your immunity. If you regularly get headaches or feel tired and lack focus, these could be signs that you’re not drinking enough water. And if your urine is dark, this is definitely a sure sign you need to drink more.  Remember to take care of yourself so you can continue to go out there and take care of others!
